Hand-painted Stoneware Mug

Each of these small stoneware mugs is thrown and decorated by hand in my South Gippsland studio. The loose, gestural brush marks are made with ceramic oxides over a soft white glaze, so the colours shift and soften in the firing, from deep cobalt blues to smoky blue-greens and watery teals.

Each mug is a one-off. The brushwork, shape and character vary from mug to mug, and the photographs show the actual mug you will receive.

These are small mugs — just right for a flat white, piccolo, strong tea or that second coffee you probably didn’t need.
